At Cicada Candle Co. we use 100% soy wax in all of our candles. Each one is hand-poured and each scent is created with our experiences - at home and across the country - in mind.

Hi - we are Johnnie & Mallory Shaneyfelt. We live together in Birmingham, Alabama with our three pets. We started the business part of our relationship in 2017, with a curated men’s and women’s clothing and accessory store in Crestwood. When we took our next steps outside of that business, Johnnie knew he wanted to move on to his next creative venture pretty quickly, and the seed of Cicada Candle Co. was planted.

Johnnie made his first candle in 2011 out of found thrift store jars. It only seemed natural to dig in to a craft he had found interest in so long ago. He picked it back up in 2018 and set up shop in our basement in May 2020.
